Motor Activities Training Program-- Performed
data analyses, wrote results sections, methods,
and conclusions on various projects (e.g., Play
Activities Program, Effects of SO Training on
the Motor and Affective Behavior of Students
with Severe Disabilities). The Motor Activities
Training program is designed to involve "in a
meaningful way" children with very severe
disabilities into the Special Olympics program.
Workshops are one day, with the morning
consisting of program design and the afternoon
practical/hands-on.

GRANTS:
2007 - 2008 Grant proposal: Special Olympic International "Health and Research Initiative." Contact: Dr. Mark L. Wagner. Topic: Hispanic Special Olympic Athletes Health Promotion "Aqua Safe, Fit, & Sports" Program. Aim: To test/evaluate fitness levels, eating habits, health behaviors, and swimming skill levels for SO athletes as well as providing educational materials to SO athletes and their families. Funding $20,000 which would include (support staff training and work, copying, mailing, transportation/travel, perishable materials for physiological testing)
2005- 2006 WTAMU Killgore Research grant titled "Athletic Trainers Beliefs Toward Working with Special Olympic Athletes." The $1,500 grant payed for data collection and a student assistant.
2003 - 2005 CPS (Child Protective Services) Region I Children With Disabilities Project Grant: I helped developed grant proposal, consult, and conduct workshops for foster parents and caseworkers related to rehabilitation and adapted physiology. The grant pay $561,000 over four years.
2004- 2005 CPS (Child Protective Services) Region I Children With Disabilities Project statistical analysis for grant. I developed, validated, and analyzed four instruments to measure the success of the projects intervention.
2003 - 2004 Grant proposed: Special Olympic International "Field of Dreams Research Grant." Contact: Mr Stephen Corbin. Study: Athletic Trainers Beliefs Toward Working with Special Olympic Athletes.
2002- 2003 Federal Grant with Nursing Department "Rural Health Project" Coordinator: Sally Carmen (806-651-2648). I am in charge of finding, placing, organizing, and supervising eight students willing to develop programs in adapted physical activity for rural nursing homes, hospitals, and home intervention for individuals with disabilities. Each students will work 6 weeks and receive a 2,400 stipend.

This program is part of the adapted aquatics and rehabilitation class. Students will receive certification as an "Adapted Aquatic Instructors" by AAALF upon completion of the course.
1999 - 2002 I help prepared students taking the adapted physical activity and rehabilitation class service 60 adults with disabilities from Slippery Rock community every Friday and Saturday for aquatic rehabilitation.
1999 - 2002 I help prepared students from the Adapted Aquatics Class that service the Tuesday and Thursday inclusive recreational "Learn to Swim" program which includes about 30 children from the community.
1999 - 2002 Chair Slippery Rocks committee for getting Christmas presents (Project ELF) for underprivileged children

Spring 2002 Owens Corning Biomechanics project is to improve job related injures thought specific physical fitness and strengthening exercises. Three masters students are helping in data collection, analysis, interpretation, and intervention.

CURRICULUM DEVELOPMENT:
2004- present Continued development on a web page for adapted aquatic "adaptedaquatic.org". This site presents developmentally appropriate information related to improving overall motor and fitness ability, programing strategies, equipment, and inclusion techniques for individuals with disabilities.
2009 Developed and prepared curriculum for the review process to implement a new undergraduate course in the Department of Health and Human Performance exercise science students (i.e., Adapted Physical Activity & Rehabilitation).
2006 Helped prepare and develop curriculum for the new masters program within the education department curriculum and instruction with an emphases in Health & Human Performance.
